Scenes
Scenes that happened throughout the movie did actually occur. One of the biggest scenes, Hitler and Eva's suicide on April 30, 1945, did happen in real life on the same day. While some scenes were pretty accurate, others were not as accurate. An example is when Goebbels and his wife committed suicide. In the film, Goebbels and his wife shot each other in the Chancellery garden, while in real life, an SS man shot them instead.
Deaths and suicides were depicted quite accurately, despite some minor changes. Goebbels and his wife had poisoned their children before committing suicide, both in the film and real life. The bodies of Hitler and Eva were carried into the Chancellery garden, then burned with gasoline. "As Soviet shells exploded nearby, the bodies were carried up to the Chancellery garden, doused with gasoline and burned while Bormann and Goebbels stood by and gave a final Nazi salute" (The Death of Hitler).
